The structure of this "empire" does not make much sense. I am not trolling here, only trying to make constructive criticism to better improve its design. I will start off by saying that I believe that a monarchy and a republic both have their share of good and bad qualities. I have always been a firm believer that if a hybrid was created from these two forms of government, it would be the best society that this world has yet seen. That is precisely how I stumbled onto Atlantium. I hoped that someone had finally got it right and formed this perfect government. Sadly, Atlantium did not do that.
The reason I like the idea of constitutional monarchy so much is because of the stability it provides. In a republic, where a new president or prime minister is elected almost every few years, there is no sense of continuity. A republic therefore is inherently unstable, because no one knows who will be the next leader of the country. In a monarchy, the heir apparent lets the people know what lies ahead for them, and who will be taking the throne next, allowing for a very smooth and seamless transfer of power.
Which brings me to my first point: an ELECTIVE monarchy, as Atlantium appears to be, completely ruins all stablity benefits that a monarchy would normally provide. Therefore, I am left to wonder, why is Atlantium even a monarchy? The central feature of monarchy is the hereditary bloodline. Without this, the emperor becomes basically a lifelong president with an imperial title in front of his name. This comes off as both pointless and nonsensical.
I am also left to wonder why Atlantium is even called an empire or has an emperor. While I respect the idea of a monarchy, I think that the title of "king" or even "prince" would be much more befitting of this aspiring nation. "Emperor" implies supremacy and complete sovereignty. Emperors are never under others; they are at the very top. And since Atlantium is clearly NOT the top authority (you pay taxes to Australia, have to abide by their laws and regulations, etc.), labelling the sovereign as an "emperor" is a misnomer that should be avoided if you want to gain any respect.
To wrap up this long rant, I suppose I will pose a question to HIM The Emperor, or anyone else for that matter: why does Atlantium need an emperor, when in actuality, it is basically a republic in all but name?
