There is a 75,000 acre island in Chile for US $7,000,000.
I am getting with investors to purchase this island for investment reasons. Maybe I could make this a territory of Atlantium. But, I have a feeling that it would piss off the Chilean Government.

As I've already foreshadowed elsewhere, Atlantium is now only a few weeks away dramatically expanding its territorial holdings, when the acquisition of a substantial new Province located on the Australian continent - in process for much of the current year - is formally gazetted.
In addition to the Empire's extraterritorial Provincial holdings, citizens who posess title to real estate have the right to freely associate those properties with the Atlantian State by petitioning the Imperial Administration to have them granted the status of Free Associated Territory.
Free Associated Territory status would certainly apply in the case of the Chilean island outlined above.
As Free Associated Territories are deemed to have a lesser status than Provinces, and are in fact largely symbolic in nature, the Imperial Administration leaves all matters relating to interactions between them and the relevant legacy government/s to the land title holder.
